londoners kiwi and ashworth return to sneaky for a follow-up to dawn ep, the warm, dusty and at times experimental release, championed by the likes of daniel avery, eric duncan and tiefschwarz. the past few months have been busy for both halves of the duo, with kiwi signing to duke dumont s blase boys club and remixing for house music super-labels bpitch control and get physical, whilst ashworth has signed music to tomoki tamura s holic trax and needwant. second ep takes a new format, with two original tracks alaska and na am on the a-side, backed up by a nicholas & marcoradi remix of cux3 and ranacat s remix of zubr. alaska could be described as an amalgamation of the inspirations that lead to the first sneaky release, combining the pumping house beats of cux3, the comforting wurlitzer of zubr and the ethereal movie-soundtrack dusk. na am is something totally different, existing mainly as a collage of recorded and found sounds, avoiding the usual structure of house music in favour of something reminiscent of the weirder side of the chemical brothers. strange though the track may be, the climax would undoubtedly move a room full of pilled up ravers to a state of frenzy. the b-side remixes both hint to dance floors of the 90s, with nicholas and marcoradi making you wait and wait before dropping an unforgettable piano hook, whilst sneaky s ranacat lifts zubr out of context and into peak time territory.

masaaki takes his musical cue from natural phenomenon and laws of nature by trying to reconstruct them.

tian gjevik (eod,cn), passionate and curious about electronic music, found in a trondheim thrift store a tape of the norwegian legendary project : the educational music -sports/tools-. he contacted one of the two composers called dildrian schrodinger. he has managed to negociate with him a deal for a vinyl license with weme records. we can find in this project ordered by the norwegian state all an experimentation work with electronic machines from the 1980 s. it is sometimes accompanied by a clumsy singing quite modern at that time.

after the highly anticipated release of his third studio album decay, efdemin presents the first part of a remix series featuring his favourite producers. bristols underground hero asusu inflates the reduced album opener some kind of up and down yes with deepest bass and beautiful scapes to the max in a true photek-style. last years control by staffan linzatti was one of the favourite constants to be played in every efdemin or lawrence set. luckily his version of solaris is another epic hymn here with futuristic enhancements of the third kind.the most extraordinary piece on decay versions part 1 is the borderland states rework of parallaxis. efdemins studio-mate john gürtler recorded that beauty with adding acoustic instruments only and sounds like a meeting of moondog with wim mertens.

now ovo, the eagerly awaited new luca bacchetti ep, is here! with this work on his endless imprint, luca seems to be delineating a new soundscape, maintaining the psychedelia he introduced into his productions a few years ago, but now more synthetic and in some ways even minimalist. in ovo we can find a brace of dancefloor tracks, no gravity and the space between us, that maintain and harness luca s emotional and intricate atmospheres whilst also employing powerful sounds and elements that embrace the movement of the body. mature, emotional techno, where ethereal dream-like atmospheres find a singular expression and their own distinct identity. it is no coincidence that the whole ep was recorded entirely high up in the tosco emiliano apennines: a place where, for luca, nature is the element that most influences this new aural pathway. as he himself states: “it’s this contrast between isolated lands and the chaos of the big city that produces this state of being: a new dialogue. they are two worlds which overlap within my soul: when i’m in new york i think of these mountains and when i’m here i think of the bustle of tour life .. but it’s up here that i find the seed, in this case ovo.”

first to go is evolent with their smasher *the legacy*. a slick, yet powerful journey through the depths of sound and rhythm. known for their 100% hardware based live performances, evolent proofed once again their love for depth and details in this massive tune. *we just keep on searching for the perfect balance between a somehow minimalistic approach and detailed storytelling* state the two guys from evolent. and thats exactly what they did. this wonderful piece of music will be available on a limited number of 12 inch vinyl, including a massive remix from michal ho (get physical, nice try) and a twisted afterhour remix from monkey maffia (freudeamtanzen).

gravitas, talib kwelis sixth solo album, began to take shape in may, during the weeks following the release of kwelis fifth solo album, prisoner of conscious. loaded with guests, prisoner of conscious was well received and reviewed, and gained talib many new fans to add to his already large following. however, kweli soon found himself wanting to record more personal material and really document his journey thru music. when singer ryan leslie, who created the platform that kweli is using to sell gravitas, approached him with the idea of selling direct to fan, songs that were just rough ideas began to fully form in kwelis head.

block rocking, pop locking lonely c and baby prince are at it again with their latest fraiche ep on soul clap records. the troublemaking two-some take us back to 2011. it was a weekend in late august and new york city was practically under martial law. news tickers warned frightened citizens that a hurricane called irene would strike at any minute, flooding most of manhattan and williamsburg where the boys sat gleefully snacking and talking shit inside the world famous marcy hotel. with all airplanes grounded and the trains halted it became clear that lc & bp were going nowhere. it began to rain, the wind picked up and as the skies darkened, nyc declared a state of emergency.
